"Driver stated they were late for a gym class. Driver reported."

It comes after a learner driver blamed being caught behind the wheel on "failing his test the other day".

Officers pulled over a black Vauxhall Corsa in Altrincham on Monday night over the 'manner' in which it was being driven.

They discovered that the person behind the wheel was uninsured and did not have a full driving licence.

A Mercedes was seized by police after the driver was caught speeding in a cycle lane in Manchester.

The uninsured car was spotted hurtling along the A56.
