Speedboat killer pleads guilty to barbecue tong attack on new partner

  • Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd , 38, has pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of damaging property against his new partner.
  • The assaults, which occurred in February and June last year, involved Shepherd pinning down the woman and punching her, and striking her in the chest with barbecue tongs, causing a permanent scar.
  • Shepherd entered his guilty pleas via video link from HMP Swaleside at Isleworth Crown Court , with prosecutors dropping two other allegations of controlling behaviour and intentional suffocation.
  • These incidents led to Shepherd's recall to prison in September last year, having been on licence after serving part of a 10-year sentence for the 2018 manslaughter of Charlotte Brown .
  • Judge Martin Edmunds KC remanded Shepherd into custody, ordering a probation report ahead of his sentencing hearing scheduled for September.
