Speed eater in hospital for five days with 7lb burger stuck in his stomach

A man received medical reatment after getting a 7lb burger stuck in his stomach while taking part in a speed-eating competition. The 30-year-old “healthy” man was admitted to the emergency room eight hours after taking part in a speed eating competition, having consumed a 3.2kg (7lbs) burger in 30 minutes.

The huge meal led to a five-day stay in hospital, with the man vomiting undigested food and suffering a swollen stomach, as well as having a compressed pancreas and bowels being pushed to the left. The patient was monitored in the general ward as doctors attempted to decompress his stomach, but he eventually started to pass the burger – five days after admission.

Scan pictures show the huge lump of food lodged in his stomach upon entering hospital. The case, which was shared in a medical journal, went viral on Twitter recently after it was discovered, racking up 4,800 likes and hundreds of comments.

One person said, “I mean, how does someone like this keep the food down? How does this not immediately come out as projectile vomit?”

“7 lb. burger! When your eyes are bigger than your belly, as they say in Glasgow,” another user commented.

Someone else said, “The person pretty much ate a newborn baby.”

“That’s insane!” agreed another user.

“That’s astoundingly bonkers,” another person added.
