New surveillance cameras designated for 15 busy traffic spots in Bangkok to catch motorists who flout the rules when changing lanes will be postponed by one month because of installation glitches, officials said.
The cameras were originally due to start operating Thursday.
But the latest inspection found that only the camera installed at Huai Khwang underpass on Ratchadaphisek Road was functioning properly while the others will require until the end of the year, Traffic Police Division deputy chief Pol Col Kitti Ariyanon said.
"We expect to make arrests and issue tickets in early January," Pol Col Kitti said.
Areas that will fall under surveillance include the inbound lanes on Din Daeng Road at Sam Liam Din Daeng, and the outbound and inbound lanes on Lat Phrao Road at the Ratchada-Lat Phrao intersection.
