Spectacular pictures of the Super Pink Moon taken across Bristol

Strargazers, astronomers and ordinary folk alike were treated to a Super Pink Moon in the early hours of this morning (April 8).

Whilst the Super Moon wasn't actually pink (the Native American name harks back to the moon's heralding of pink flowers), stargazers across Bristol captured some incredible pictures of the sight.

It's the closest the Moon will get to Earth this year which is why it appeared to be very large in the night sky.

Bristollians captured some awe-inspiring pictures of the huge moon during the early hours of this morning.

Andres Atkinson got in contact with Bristol Live to send in the incredible picture he captured of the Pink Super Moon - at the top of this page.

He said: "A keen amateur astronomer & photographer here, wanted to share with you how I saw the supermoon in Knowle early hours this morning."

Others across Bristol also got the opportunity to see the Pink Super Moon.

Caz tweeted: "Finally just after midnight the clouds disappeared to reveal the pink moon! #pinkmoon #bristol #nofilters "

Zoe Veal captured the moment the Pink Super Moon burst through the cloudy morning sky in Bristol.

She tweeted: "It’s cloudy in Bristol, so this is the best picture I could get of tonight’s super moon."
