Spectacular Mary Queen of Scots light show returns to Craigmillar Castle in Edinburgh

A spectacular light show bringing the tale of Mary Queen of Scots to life is returning to Craigmillar Castle in Edinburgh.

The ruined castle, which is deeply connected to the story of Scotland's doomed monarch, is being transformed to bring the past to life.

The Spotlight on Mary event was introduced last year and quickly sold out. It's now coming back for several dates between November 7 and 10.

The innovative show tells the story of the infamous "Craigmillar Bond", the plot to kill Mary's husband Lord Darnley.

Visitors can take a tour of the eerie castle at night at the walls are transformed by huge projections.

Historic Environment Scotland say: "Listen in on the dark plot of 1566 and encounter key characters as you tour the castle and hear of the fate that befell Mary Queen of Scots’ husband, Lord Darnley."

Adult tickets are £15 and can be bought here
