'Spectacular' lightning over Bristol caught on camera

Bristolians across the city were treated to a "spectacular" light show last night.

The city was hit by a huge thunderstorm last night during the early hours of the morning (July 24).

The Met Office previously issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the country, which remains in place until 9am today.

Nevertheless, the storm provided the perfect opportunity for Bristol residents to capture some amazing footage of the lightning strikes.

We've rounded up some of the best videos of last night's storm, which you can view in the Tweet collection below.

Looking ahead to today's weather, the Met Office says we're in for a dry and cloudy start, with less than five per cent chance of rain set to stay all day meaning it's unlikely we'll see any sign of showers breaking up the warm weather.

The thunderstorm warning over Bristol remains in place until 9am, but the concentrated forecast shows little sign of turbulent conditions during the morning rush hour.

However, it'll certainly feel warm right away, with temperatures sitting at around 18 degrees Celsius until 9am, when they start to rise degree by degree.
