Londoners witnessed a spectacular fiery meteor streaking across the night sky, despite the heavy rain and clouds.
Many people who saw the fireball said it turned blue, yellow and green as it shot across London.
It was also captured on black-and-white film soaring over rooftops in Barnet.
The footage was posted by the UK Meteor Observation Network, who said it appeared at 7.54pm on Tuesday evening.
"It was a large meteor spotted from our East Barnet London station, very bright even through slight cloud cover," said UKMON spokesman Richard Kacerek.
Others claimed they saw the luminous fireball from all over London and even in the home counties.
Chris Cenci said he was onboard a flight to London Heathrow when he saw the meteor.
He wrote on Twitter: ‘I was flying UAL934 and saw it just before landing.
"The blue line is my best guess as to location and direction (SE to NW). So cool!’
Robert Currie said: "Anyone just see a super bright meteor over London travelling northwards? Am in South London and it shone white/yellow that burnt to a bright blue green flash."
Jocelyn Le Conte said: "Yes! I just observed this in Purley, in the vicinity of Croydon. Glad it wasn’t just me!"
Another said: "Just seen a massive shooting star over London! Full on meteor lighting up the sky!"
Samantha Jackson tweeted: “Saw it while strolling the canines in Hitchin Hertfordshire. Really eco-friendly in colour."
A Twitter user even said he saw the meteor flash "environmentally friendly" colours overhead in Brondesbury.
The next scheduled meteor shower is the Draconids, which will peak above the UK on October 8 and 9.
