A specialist search team has been seen in the area where adult human remains were found in Walker.
On Thursday evening, Northumbria Police received a report that adult human remains were found in a wooded area in Fossway, Walker.
Officers have remained in the area since that evening. It is believed the remains found are skeletal.

On Sunday afternoon, a specialist search team was seen in the area where the human remains were found.
The force confirmed on Friday evening that they are in the process of identifying the individual.
Police have said they are treating the death as unexplained. It is believed the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
When first reported, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “At about 7pm yesterday (Thursday), we received a report that adult human remains had been found in a wooded area in Fossway, Walker.
“We are currently in the process of identifying the individual and at this stage are treating their death as unexplained.
“Officers remain at the scene at this time.”
