Specialist residential care provider heads to Hull

Care provider Heathcotes Group is opening a new specialist residential service in Hull providing support for adults with learning disabilities, dual diagnoses and associated complex needs.

An existing residential property has been converted to create new two-storey accommodation comprising seven en-suite bedrooms with ample communal space and 24-hour support from 14 full-time care staff.

The facility has been designed by Heathcotes’ in-house architectural consultancy, JDS Design, and built by contractors John Ryan Developments Ltd.

Heathcotes’ business development director, Natalia Lysiuk, said: “Our new Hull service is based on Heathcotes’ core service model and developed in collaboration with colleagues across Hull’s local authority and CCG. It can be utilised as an intermediary between hospital and supported living, fully aligned with the objectives of the Transforming Care agenda, but it will also be suitable as a permanent home for those who may never be able to live fully independently. We are currently taking admissions.

“I am delighted that we are increasing our ability to support the repatriation of individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs into the community whilst also creating local employment opportunities. It is the

latest addition to the company’s nationwide estate and we will soon be opening new services in other regions to enable more people to further their independence and achieve their aspirations.”

Heathcotes’ new Hull service has two communal lounges, shared dining space, a shared bathroom on the ground floor and generous outside space with a garden. The location enjoys easy access to a range of local amenities, aiding community inclusion.

All staff are trained in non-abusive physical and psychological interventions.

Headquartered in Chesterfield, Heatcotes Group has 72 properties nationwide, and is a trusted partner to more than 50 local authorities and clinical commissioning groups for the past 16 years.

It was named Large Employer of the Year at the Learning Unlimited National Apprenticeship Awards 2018.
