Specialist officers recover £25k worth of drugs across Lanarkshire

Police have recovered over £25,000 in drugs from properties across Lanarkshire over the past week.

We told you on Monday how officers had recovered a substantial amount of drugs and cash from properties in Wishaw.

That saw specialist cops recover £11,800 worth of cannabis and £3470 cash from homes at Greenhead Road and Barra Avenue in the town, with a 24-year-old man arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

Now Police Scotland have revealed that Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit officers have recovered more drugs across the region.

A spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : “Shortly after 4pm on July 12, officers from East Kilbride recovered £700 worth of cannabis and £600 worth of cocaine after a vehicle was stopped at Chalmers Crescent.

“Two men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court the next day.

“Then, about 12.30pm on July 16, specialist officers recovered £9800 worth of cannabis and £2760 worth of cocaine from a property at Lawhill Road, Carluke.

“A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and is due to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court today (Tuesday).”

Anyone with any information on suspicious activity or concerns about drugs in their community is asked to contact police on 101.
