A special Sundown Sessions is taking place next week to showcase some of the best of Derry's homegrown musical talent.
Hosted by the Grand Central Barr in the heart of Derry city centre on Wednesday, December 22, this intimate setting will immerse the audience in the unique sounds each artist has to offer.
Matthew Brown, an organiser of the Sundown Sessions, spoke to MyDerry about this upcoming showcase.
He said: "The Sundown Sessions in the Grand Central Bar is presenting quite the show this Christmas as we host a trio of local artists including Tessio, Rosborough and Conall McGrellis.
"This gig is due to take place on December 22. It will be a donation at the door with all proceeds going directly to the artist along with their normal fee for playing.
"Doors will open at 6pm and it is looking like the busiest night of music for The Grand Central all year round. Early arrival is advised!"
Sundown Sessions made a welcome return after the repeated lockdowns during the pandemic.
Matthew said: "The atmosphere at Sundown Sessions is unmatched. I grew up through playing at Sundown Sessions, it was where I first had a drink in a pub and it was where I first played a song in a pub.
"So from my point of view it has been critical in not only being a platform to be heard but a platform to grow as a person."
Jude McCandless makes up one half of Derry music duo, Tessio and his excitement to be one of the artists featured on this special Sundown Session.
He said: "We can’t wait to play the central. The Grand Central Bar do a great job organising these sessions.
"This one is special as it is the three favourite acts of the Sundown Sessions playing all in the one night. It should be a good big night out!"
