Bhutan will hold special prayers on Thursday for the late King Bhumibol to coincide with his royal cremation ceremony in Bangkok.

The day of prayer will be held at a giant Buddha statue, Kuensel Phodrang, in the capital Thimphu and be presided over by a religious leader, King Jigme Wangchuck said in a message posted on his Facebook account.
The event will be attended by members of the royal family of Bhutan, senior government officials, diplomats and Thais living there.
