It will be the start of an exciting chapter for Scone Thistle under new manager Willie Laing.
The long-serving centre-half has taken over the reins at Farquharson Park and has been working hard with his squad in recent weeks.
All of that hard work leads to a Midlands League opener on home soil against Lochee Harp tomorrow afternoon.
“The boys are buzzing to get started for the new season,” said Laing.
“Preparations for the forthcoming season have been ever-improving since taking over and the coaching team and I are working hard with the lads to get them ready for Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how the new squad faces up to the challenges ahead. I am excited for Saturday already and can’t wait to start the league campaign.
“And I’m looking forward to this new journey and position at Scone. I would like to thank the chairman Derek Adam and the committee who have supported me so far. Also a big thanks to my coaching staff who are working the team hard in preparation for the season.
“It will be great to see fans back in Farquharson Park and hopefully we get a few more with the good weather.”
Laing knows the junior game well – including their curtain-raising opponents Lochee Harp, who hail from Dundee.
“It will be a tough test against Harp as they have always been a hard team to break down,” Laing explained.
“It should be a good test for the lads but we’re all looking forward to it.”
