An event to celebrate the silver anniversary of a local group for people aged 50 and over was held in Bathgate.
The West Lothian 50+ Network hosted a garden party as one of a series of celebratory events.
A special afternoon tea was served to 90 of the network’s 400-plus members at the Bathgate Partnership Centre.
The weather meant that the garden party had to move indoors but that did not dampen the spirits of the group, whose motto is “Make the rest of your life the best of your life”.
A celebration cake was cut by network convenor Anne Webster, assisted by one of the group’s longest-standing members Ella Reinholds.
Among the guests were Depute Lord Lieutenant Caroline MacLachlan and local MSP Fiona Hyslop.
The network was set up by a group including Jim-Dixon, in 1994.
Since then it has offered a range of activities which make a positive difference to the lives of older people in West Lothian, addressing the issue of loneliness and social isolation and improving wellbeing in later life.
Anne Webster said: “The present committee follows in the footsteps of many volunteers who over the years have shared our vision and worked hard to develop a strong network of over-fifties who can support each other in later life.
“We make things happen for ourselves and help each other to keep active and connected through some 35 special interest groups, social events and outings.”
