Special constables catch 12 speeding drivers in an hour

Volunteer officers with Greater Manchester Police have reported catching 12 speeding drivers within the space of an hour on one road in Salford.

The lowest speed recorded in the 30mph zone during that time was 40mph, and the highest 58mph.

A tweet from GMP Special Constabulary, posted in the early hours of today, August 4, read: "Within just ONE hour tonight officers reported drivers on Middleton Road for these speeds… 56-52-41-56-42-40-39-58-52-58-47-52

"Thanks to all the neighbours for their support & to those who failed to stop – ensure you check your mail!"

The Special Constabulary consists of trained volunteers, who give up their spare time to assist with the policing of Greater Manchester.
