’Speaker Johnson misplayed his hand’: Adelita Grijalva says that by not swearing her in, Mike Johnson has ‘highlighted how corrupt this administration is’

Adelita Grijalva recently made some interesting points during her appearance on the Legal AF podcast. She remarked that Mike Johnson’s refusal to swear her in as a member of the House of Representatives has brought her more good than harm. Grijalva also emphasised that Johnson’s actions have exposed the corrupt nature of the current administration and called for widespread reforms.

While speaking with host Michael Popok, Grijalva stated:

“I do think that Speaker Johnson misplayed his hand on this one. I think he thought, oh well, it’s just, you know, this woman in Arizona, we’re gonna go ahead and keep her quite… What he has done in stopping… this obstruction of swearing me in is really highlighting how corrupt this administration is.”

Grijalva also mentioned the unexpected benefits she has received from Mike Johnson’s refusal to swear her in. She noted that this situation has allowed her to connect with people “across the country”, a task that would have taken her years to accomplish otherwise. Additionally, she pointed out that the incident had led to a surge in her popularity, mentioning that at the “No Kings” protests, many participants held signs urging Mike Johnson and the Trump administration to swear her in.
Concluding her message to Mike Johnson, Grijalva said:

“Thank you, Speaker Johnson, for making sure that what you did is highlight how corrupt this system you’re protecting is. And we’re going to fight through that. We really are.”

For those who may not know, Speaker Mike Johnson has been delaying Adelita Grijalva’s swearing-in for several weeks. He has said that he will swear her in after the government returns to normalcy; however, people believe that Johnson and the Republicans are intentionally stalling the shutdown to avoid swearing her in, as well as to accomplish other objectives. It is important to note that Grijalva holds the crucial last vote needed to force the release of the Epstein Files, which are expected to contain the names of several Republicans, including the current United States President, Donald Trump.
