FOUR police officers were allegedly assaulted breaking up a brawl in a Tuncurry park on Thursday.
NSW Police said the Manning-Great Lakes officers were called to John Wright Park about 5.55pm on Thursday amid reports of a brawl.
Officers arrived and found a 26-year-old man with blood on his face who was allegedly threatening people in the area.
"Police will allege, once the man had been handcuffed, he kicked out at two officers, striking one on the side of his head and the other to the forehead," police said in a statement.
The second officer received medical attention at the scene.
The 26-year-old was taken to Forster police station where it is alleged he spat blood on two officers and attempted to assault them.
Paramedics were called but the man refused treatment.
He has since been charged with affray, resist officer in execution of duty and four counts of assault officer in execution of duty.
He will face court on Friday.
The allegations add to a horror week for police in the Hunter and beyond, with a number of people facing court over alleged incidents of violence against officers.
The incidents prompted NSW Police Minister David Elliott to call for an urgent inquiry.
