SHE is named after Game of Thrones' mother of dragons, and hopefully Daenerys the lizard is about to live up to her namesake.
Kraken and Daenerys, the Australian Reptile Park's Komodo dragons, have paired for mating in what the park says is an Australian first.
It is an important step for a species vulnerable in the wild. The introduction of the two masive reptiles, members of the largest living lizard species, went according to plan despite their venomous bite posing a potentially lethal risk.
Head of reptiles Daniel Rumsey, who has worked with the lizards for five years, described it as "one of the awe-inspiring things I've ever seen as a zookeeper".

"These are two animals that could potentially kill each other and do some serious damage to us keepers in the process," he said.
"It was a bit touch and go during the initial introductions, however our female became receptive and the two mated successfully."
If they arrive, the eggs are expected in about a month.
