Spanish side keen on Bristol Rovers academy product now at Wolverhampton Wanderers

A former Bristol Rovers academy product could be heading back to Spain.

Donovan Wilson came through the youth system at Rovers, spending 10 years at the club.

He appeared on the bench for the Gas but never made it onto the pitch for a senior game before he caught the interest of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who initially signed him on a loan deal before securing his services on a permanent basis in January 2015.

Now 22, the striker is yet to properly make his mark at Molineux, having spent time on loan at Port Vale, Jumilla and most recently Exeter City.

During his half-season spell at Jumilla, Wilson clearly made an impression in Spain, with general manager of Cartagena, Manolo Sanchez Breis, claiming the club want to sign him on a permanent basis - although they face competition from elsewhere.

“Donovan is a very interesting, young footballer and we want to sign him, but there are also other clubs,” Breis told  AS, via Sport Witness.

“We offer him an interesting project, so he can develop his game.”

Should any club sign Wilson, Birmingham Live report that Wolves will want a sell-on fee included in any deal.
