The Spanish media showed no mercy to Barcelona after their epic 8-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, calling for huge changes at the club after a night that will be difficult to erase from their memory.
'Historic humiliation', cried the cover of Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, adding: 'A ridiculous Barca suffered its biggest defeat in Europe, ending a lamentable season without a trophy for the first time in 12 years.'
Daily Mundo Deportivo described the defeat on its cover as 'A shameful end to an era', also declaring that coach Quique Setien would be immediately sacked as coach and that president Josep Maria Bartomeu would call an election imminently.
National newspaper AS used the same headline as Sport, adding: 'The disaster against Bayern opens up a crisis with far-reaching consequences at every level of the club.'
Marca used the word 'shame' on its cover, adding that Setien, who was hired in January to try and restore some style and flair to the team, had 'one foot and a half out of the door'.
Sport gave defender Nelson Semedo a rating of one out of 10 after he was tormented by Alphonso Davies in the build-up to the fifth goal scored by Joshua Kimmich. It gave Setien a rating of zero, adding: 'He cannot spend one more day in Barca's dugout.'

AS also said Setien's days at the club were numbered, adding that former Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino was waiting in the wings, despite previously saying he would never coach Barca due to his loyalty to former club Espanyol.
Meanwhile, Gerard Pique sensationally offered to quit Barcelona following Friday's match.
"It's a horrible result. An embarrassment," he said after the match (as reports Forward Barca ). "This club needs changes, and I don't mean the manager, or any specific players. I don't want to single anyone out. It needs changes.
"This is the bottom."

“We have hit rock bottom. If I have to leave for new blood to come, I will leave.
"We do not compete in Europe or the league. It cannot be masked anymore.
"It is a shame, I can't say anything else. It's not the first or the second time. The club needs changes of all kinds.”
Pique was largely at fault for Bayern's fifth goal which ended any feint hope Barca had of mounting a comeback.
Two goals from Thomas Muller and one apiece from Ivan Perisic and Serge Gnabry had put Bayern in a commanding lead at the break, with Barca's only reply a comical own goal from David Alaba.
Luis Suarez then reduced the deficit to two goals with a well-taken solo effort to set up for a potentially barnstorming finish - but it wasn't to be.
Bayern hit back just six minutes later as Alphonso Davies raced down the left before cutting back for Joshua Kimmich to apply the simple finish from eight yards out.

Davies had side-stepped Pique on his route towards goal as the Spaniard hesitated and failed to even get close to the youngster.
To add insult to injury Barcelona's outcast loanee Philippe Coutinho then came on for Bayern for the final 10 minutes, setting up Robert Lewandowski for the sixth before adding two strikes of his own to compete the remarkable scoreline.
Man of the match Thomas Muller said: “We feel good - you can imagine! We had so much fun today. It was very special.
"It is a big statement by Bayern but the next game, the semi-final, starts 0-0.
“We have to be quiet and calm and relaxed – and also a little bit happy.
We are not here to win the quarter-final, we are here to win the semi-final and the final.
"I know these tournament situations a lot and most of the time, after these big wins, it is more difficult so we have to be careful.”
