Spanish government extends Brit travel ban as 8 new rules issued

The Spanish government has banned Brits and non-EU travellers entry into Spain until June 15.

Releasing an official state bulletin, the Interior Ministry confirmed the new restrictions.

In the statement, they say the order will come into affect from midnight tonight.

Spain declared a State of Emergency (“Estado de Alarma”) on March 14, which introduces a series of measures including significant restrictions on movement throughout the country in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

There will now only be eight circumstances in which non-EU travellers and Brits can enter Spain, reports the Mirror.

  1. They are registered as a resident of Spain or they are travelling back to their residence in another EU state or Schengen area.
  2. They are the spouse or legally recognised partner of a Spanish citizen. They can also bring dependant children and grandparents related to said marriage.
  3. They area cross-border worker.
  4. They are carers for the sick or elderly who are travelling to or from work.
  5. They are working as a transporter of essential goods
  6. They are air stewards or essential flight personnel on diplomatic, consular, military or humanitarian missions.
  7. They are travelling due to family reasons of the utmost urgency.
  8. They are allowed to enter the country on humanitarian grounds

From May 15, all new international arrivals entering Spain, including Spanish nationals and residents, will be required to self-isolate in their residence or hotel for a period of 14 days.
