Spanish football expert says exactly what Arsenal fans want to hear about Thomas Partey transfer

Arsenal could complete the biggest deal on transfer deadline day by signing Thomas Partey.

The Gunners have held a longstanding interest in the Ghana international, but Atletico Madrid have remained adamant the midfielder would only be sold if his £45million release clause was met.

And football.london understands that a move to bring the 27-year-old to the Emirates is underway with a medical likely to take place in Madrid.

Arsenal's deadline day plans

If Arsenal fans weren't excited enough about a deal for Partey, Spanish football expert, Alvaro Montero, has said that he belives the transfer will be confirmed before the 11pm deadline.

"It seems so (he’ll be an Arsenal player). It’s been said in England, especially here in Spain, it seems like Arsenal are going to pay that famous clause we’ve been talking about in the last few weeks," he told Sky Sports.

"Remember it is €50m, so £45, more or less, once you pay the clause, the player is yours.

"They have seven hours to pay the clause. Arsenal have already called La Liga just to inform, normally it’s a player or agent that has to go to La Liga and if they pay those €50m, automatically, the player will be a Gunner.

"It seems that Atletico Madrid want the money and Arsenal has to understand this is the only option."

Montero has also predicted Partey to be a great signing for the Gunners.

"I think he’s one of the best midfielders in Europe. He’s a typical midfielder, he defends, he attacks and he has some sort of goal, a typical Premier League player, box-to-box. I think he’s going to be a very good transfer for Arsenal, for sure.

"A good investment, because I think he’s going to be a fabulous player.

"For example, Simeone wants him to play for Atletico Madrid, he has counted on him in the last three games, especially in the line-up in the last two.

"Now, it seems, he’s going to be the future for Arsenal."
