Spanish defender expected to complete Nottingham Forest move

Chema Rodriguez will complete a move to Nottingham Forest today, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

Marca claim the 27-year-old didn’t train with Levante on Thursday morning, or feature in a training game with Elche on Wednesday.

Last term, the central defender made 19 appearances in La Liga for Levante as they finished 15th in Span’s top division, but has since fallen down the pecking order at the Estadi Ciutat de València.

He can operate at right-back, though his primary position is in the centre – an area Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi is keen to strengthen.

Rodriguez began his career with Elche and spent time in Atletico Madrid's B team, before moving to Alcoron in 2013. He then joined Levante three years later for 800,000 euros, helping them win promotion to the top flight.

Forest have already been busy in the transfer market ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline, with Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson and Caen goalkeeper Brice Samba already signed, while John Bostock is expected to complete a switch from Toulouse.
