Spanish club keen on Nottingham Forest loan flop but could be priced out of transfer - reports

Striker Rafa Mir is reportedly being linked with a move to Spain during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old forward is spending the season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to Spanish news outlet El Periodico de Aragon, Real Zaragoza have expressed an interest in signing Mir in the New Year, along with Alaves forward John Guidetti.

The report states that the Spanish second division side were interested in signing the forward in the summer, prior to him moving to the City Ground, but could not do a deal due to his “high salary”.

They also claim that the chances of signing Mir in January are “remote” due to the same reasons as the summer.

Mir has struggled to find form since his move to Trentside, with the Spain Under-21 international yet to find the back of the net, having made 13 appearances for the Reds.

The forward has been the subject of debate in recent days, with Reds legend Kenny Burns questioning Forest’s decision to sign him.

Mir was an unused substitute in Forest’s 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at the City Ground on Tuesday night, and has made just four starts in all competitions so far this season.
