Spanish City Funfair returns to Whitley Bay with new Covid-safe measures

The Spanish City Funfair is coming back to North Tyneside - and a string of measures will be in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

It will be set up on The Links, in Whitley Bay, from Thursday to Bank Holiday Monday, running from 11am to 6pm each day.

The five-day fair will feature the usual family favourites from the waltzer, dodgems and roller coasters to children’s rides and hook-a-duck stalls. There will also be a giant slide and bungee trampolines.

However, families will also find a number of changes when they arrive this year as the site will be made Covid-safe.

A risk assessment has been carried out and the following precautions will be taken:

  • the site will have a limited capacity and numbers will be monitored to allow for social distancing
  • hand sanitiser will be available at the entrance and exit to each ride
  • All rides will be cleaned after every use and will be further apart than usual
  • All staff will wear masks or have screens
  • Contactless payment will be preferred on all attractions
  • QR track and trace code available for everyone who enters
  • there will be separate entry and exit points

The event, hosted by Turners Funfairs, is a regular attraction during the summer and is usually attended by hundreds of people.

This time, visitors are asked to maintain social distancing all all times and follow the Covid-safe guidelines.
