Spanish City Easter Fair will be back with free chocolate eggs for children

All the fun of the fair will be on offer in Whitley Bay this spring with news that the popular Spanish City Easter Family Funfair will be back for a week in April.

The historic Turners fair, which has more than 200 years of history behind it, is to bring all the traditional attractions to The Links where families can enjoy the likes of waltzers and dodgems - and the seaside itself - from April 7 until the April 13 Bank Holiday Monday.

As an added attractions for those who visit on Easter Sunday, April 12, there will be free Easter eggs, free face painting and extra free entertainment.

Adding to the line-up of fairground rides meanwhile will be rollercoasters, a ghost train and a Twister ride alongside the likes of  'jumping frogs' and giant bungee trampolines.

There is a long tradition of Turners funfairs in North Tyneside and the family behind it are members of The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain.

Nine generations of Keith Turner and Sons, which was set up two centuries ago, have worked in fairgrounds and in 1994 the company took over Whitley Bay 's Spanish City until its closure.

Now, following the landmark's huge refurbishment , the links with the town are restored and the funfair is a huge draw with crowds once more.
