Spandau Ballet set for own 'talent show' after Martin Kemp's stint as TV judge

Could Spandau Ballet be set to star in their own TV talent show format?

After Martin Kemp’s stint looking for the stars of Take That’s West End musical, The Band, in Let It Shine, the group are set to have their music feature in their own stage show to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their first chart hit, To Cut A Long Story Short.

And to cut another long story short, they could find some of the stars of it with a similar televised competition to the popular BBC1 series.

The stage show will be directed by Terry Johnson, who oversaw End Of The Rainbow, the musical Judy Garland show.

Another Bros documentary is on its way as twins Matt and Luke Goss sign BBC deal

“It’s in acquisition,” confirms Martin – who adds with a cheeky grin that there could “maybe” be plans in the pipeline for a TV show.

Meanwhile, his brother Gary said last month that the Kemps had a secret TV project under way, though he hinted the pair would have “acting heads” on for it.

“We might be doing some work for the BBC in the autumn, working with some very interesting, cool people from London,” he said, rather coyly.

“That will be scheduled for the end of the year.”

Meanwhile, Gary adds that despite the group recruiting young West End singer Ross William Wild to replace Tony Hadley for a recent short tour: “I still struggle to imagine Spandau Ballet without Tony Hadley.”
