Spain is set to reopen its borders to EU states next week - including the UK.
Spain is opening the border on June 21, to all EU states and Schengen-area countries.
The exception will be Portugal, which will have to wait until July 1 on the request of the Portuguese government.
Despite the UK leaving the EU earlier this year, the UK is still considered an EU member state because it is in a transition period and still enjoys membership rights.
El Pais said this means that UK travellers will also be able to enter Spain from June 21.
The reopening was announced by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during his weekly video conference with Spain’s regional premiers.
Sánchez also said that from June 21, travelers arriving in the country will no longer be required to stay in quarantine for two weeks.
Spain closed the border on March 14 and introduced a state of alarm, to help slow the spread of coronavirus.
The state of alarm will also end on June 21, meaning that Spanish residents can travel more freely through the country again.
Travelers from outside the European Union and the Schengen free-travel area will be allowed to enter Spain from July 1, the prime minister explained, provided there is a reciprocal agreement on travel and taking into account the epidemiological situation in the country of origin, among other factors.
But holidays to Spain could still be in doubt as the UK Foreign Office is still warning against all but non essential travel abroad.
Travellers arriving into the UK also face 14 days of self isolation, with fines for anyone who breaks the rules.
