UK holidaymakers could be welcomed back in Spain this summer thanks to vaccine passports, says the country's tourism minister.
Fernando Vales says thanks to the UK's high-speed vaccine rollout, tourists could be welcome back this summer.
According to the Sun on Sunday, Mr Valdes said: "I'd say to British people, 'Keep open your expectations regarding holidays in Spain. We're looking forward to welcoming you again'."
On vaccine passports he said: 'We are defending this approach in the European Union and the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). We'd like to coordinate these works with the British government."
Mr Valdes said Spain is not currently planning on making holidaymakers quarantine when they arrive in the country.
He said: "We have other means beyond vaccines to control the transmission such as test before travel, facial masks, social distancing.
"We're going to keep all these measures as long as necessary to let tourism recover gradually and as the pandemic evolves.
"New vaccines approved will give us the necessary impulse to achieve our plan."
Travel for holidays is currently illegal in the UK and the Government has advised people that it is too early to book a holiday for this summer.
Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis said people would be unlikely to get their money back if a holiday they booked now was cancelled.
Greece has also indicated it is likely to welcome tourists this summer.
Tough new travel rules come into force in the UK on Monday.
They mean anyone arriving here from 33 red list countries has to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days.
Anyone arriving from countries not on the list has to quarantine at home.
