Spain reopens to unvaccinated Brits in huge holidays boost for Easter and summer

Spain holidays just got even easier for Brits as the country has eased its rules for those who are not fully vaccinated against Covid.

Until now, anyone aged 12 or over could only enter Spain if they were fully vaccinated against Covid, or had proof of Covid recovery within the six months prior to travel.

The exception was for teens aged 12-17 who could enter provided they had a negative PCR test result, and were travelling with vaccinated adults.

Now, the Spanish Tourist Office has confirmed that the rules are being relaxed for all unvaccinated travellers, regardless of age.

The holiday hotspot is reopening to unvaccinated travellers, although you will still need either a PCR test taken within 72 hours before travel, or a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours.

The new rules come into force today (April 6). This means that you can enter Spain for holidays if you meet one of the three following;

  1. You're fully vaccinated against Covid
  2. You've got proof of recovery from Covid within the six months prior to travel
  3. You are unvaccinated/partially vaccinated and have proof of a negative Covid test

All travellers arriving by air - including children - will need to fill out a pre-travel form and obtain a QR code to show at border control.

It's worth noting that children aged under 12 will be exempt from the testing and vaccination requirements.

The new entry rules will also apply for Brits heading to the Canaries and Balearics. (In more good news, the Canaries recently axed their local Covid rules which includes the bringing back of dancing in clubs).

It comes as a surprise, as just days ago Spanish officials had said that Covid travel rules would remain in place until April 30.

It's a huge boost for Brits, as it's just in time for school holidays such as Easter, May Half term and the summer holidays.

In fact, a number of countries including France and Italy have recently eased their travel rules to allow UK travellers to visit for tourism.
