Holiday-makers are being urged to take care when booking trips after a woman was scammed out of £1,350.
The victim, from Armagh , booked a holiday to Spain on a website called PerfectHolidaySpain and paid £1,350 for accommodation in an apartment for a week.
But when it came to a few weeks before her trip, she found the website had disappeared and she could not contact anyone from the company.
Now, Scamwise NI is urging the public to use reputable websites and travel agents so as not to fall for fake sites.
A spokesperson for Scamwise NI said: "A lady from Armagh booked a holiday to Spain through a website called PerfectHolidaySpain. She paid them £1,350 for accommodation in an apartment for a week. Closer to the time of her holiday she tried contacting them to arrange for the collection of keys, but the website had disappeared and no one responded to her.
"When booking holidays online always use reputable websites and travel agents, and do a few checks with review websites to ensure no one else has fallen foul before and it’s all above board."
