Spain holiday warning to Brits as summer booze crackdown starts next week

Police in Spain are posed to launch a brand-new crackdown on antisocial behaviour in a favoured holiday hotspot, with the summer soon approaching.

A reported by the Majorca Daily Bulletin, Palma's local police will rollout a number of stringent security measures from Monday (May 1) - in a bid to improve safety for both residents and tourists, as well as eradicating antisocial behaviour across the board.

The operation is set to run for four months across the upcoming summer, coming to an end October 15. Elsewhere in the country, other renowned tourist traps have also hosted suppression campaigns to wipe out overly boozing Britons.

A campaign has additionally been given the green light to reduce excessive tourism - and reminds shopkeepers of rules and regulations on the Law on Excesses, which oversees the sale of alcoholic beverages. Those who are found to be breaking the strict guidance could be fined between 6,001 Euros up to 600,000 Euros in a worst case scenario.

Some of the main problems in Palma, according to the council, include illegal massages and street vending - as well as pub crawls, widespread drinking in the street and noise pollution through rowdy parties. The penalties as a consequence will range from 100 Euros for small scale rule breaking, up to 3,000 Euros for more serious cases.

The rollout across Palma comes in the wake of other restrictions put in place in other parts of the country - including an alcoholic beverage limit at hotels across Majorca and Ibiza. Hotels across the regions have capped all-inclusive visitors to three drinks during lunch and three drinks for their evening meal - in a bid to banish drunken and disruptive behaviour.

Off-licenses are also only limited to sell alcohol between the hours of 8am and 9.30pm according to Thomas Cook, and participation in organised pub crawls is banned completely - much to the despair to stag and hen parties visiting the popular party spots.
