A British father has suffered a fractured skull and two broken arms after a gang of thugs beat him and threw him off a cliff as he holidayed in Spain.

Steen Nodwell, 29, was chased by “a gang of locals” who left him with life-threatening injuries, his devastated family said, as his sister begged for help to get him back home to Weston-super-Mare in Somerset.

The father-of-three had been on holiday with friends in the coastal resort of Salou when he was attacked and hurled off a cliff on Friday night.

He managed to stand up and stagger to help despite suffering two broken arms, a broken jaw, a fractured eye socket and skull, a shattered cheekbone and other internal injuries in the attack.

Sister Bethan Nodwell says he is now stranded in a Spanish hospital in the nearby city Tarragon and has required multiple operations.

The family are now looking to raise £10,000 on GoFundMe so they can move him back home by land ambulance as his severe injuries prevent him from flying.

Ms Nodwell said: “A gang of local men chased my brother and after brutally attacking him, they threw him off a cliff.

“It is only through sheer determination and courage that my brother despite his life-threatening injuries managed to get up and walk for help.

“Had he not done that, the outcome could have been tragically different.

“These men attempted to kill my brother.

“He needs several surgeries all of which are covered through his GHIC card thankfully. However, there are other expenses that we need help with.”

She told ITV News West Country: “The biggest concern is the fractured skull and eye socket. They want to operate on that first in Spain.

“He’s got a shattered cheek bone, a broken jaw, two broken arms, internal bleeding and he needs to be seen by a neurologist to determine more.”

She added: “Anything we achieve is overwhelming and Steen can’t believe the support he has been shown.”
