Spain extends Covid travel rules as families prepare to fly for Easter holidays

Travel rules are easing in many countries around the word - and just in time for the Easter holidays.

This includes the likes of France who have moved the UK from their orange list to the green list.

It was just confirmed by country’s consul général in London that the relaxation of the list means those who are non-vaccinated will also be able to enter the country without a compelling reason.

However for those wishing to visit Spain, the rules have not been relaxed and as a result it is causing many travellers to panic.

According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, the Spanish country has extended their travel rules.

This means that until April 30, visitors from the UK must either be fully vaccinated or have a valid recovery certificate.

Just like other destinations, they also require over 18s to be be fully vaccinated and can only enter within 270 days of their second jab - or if they have had a booster or with a valid covid recovery certificate issued within the last six months or 180 days.

The website states that fully vaccinated Brits however can visit Spain without needing to test or quarantine.

The news comes as shock to many who expected the travel rules to have been eased by the end of last month.

These rules only apply to those 12 and over with those over 12 and under 17 who haven't had their full course of the vaccine being asked to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arriving in Spain.

At present, anyone travelling to Spain, regardless of their vaccination status, will be required to fill out a pre-travel form and obtain a QR code to show at border control.
