Spain could allow tourists back into the country from the start of May using vaccine passports, the country's tourism minister has said.
Maria Reyes Maroto said the country could introduce Covid-19 vaccine passports as early as May according to Sky News.
But the ban on international travel from England will stay in place until at least May 17 under UK Government rules.
And Transport Secretary Grant Shapps today said people shouldn't book foreign holidays util at least April 12 - when the committee looking at travel reports back to Government.
The Balearic Islands, which include popular holiday destinations Majorca and Ibiza, have already announced they want to be first to welcome foreign tourists back with vaccine passports.
Earlier this week Greece's tourism minister announced the holiday spot plans to welcome foreign tourists back from May, regardless of their vaccine status. If you haven't had the vaccine, you'll need to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test to enter.
Cyprus has also announced plans to welcome back vaccinated travellers from May - with no quarantine restrictions either.
Mr Shapps has said he is “hopeful” that people will be able to travel abroad this summer but warned there were no “cast iron guarantees”.
Mr Shapps said that under the road map out of lockdown in England, the earliest people would be able to travel overseas was May 17 and he urged caution when it came to booking.
“We know you won’t be able to travel until May 17. I would say that it makes sense to see how the course of the pandemic unlock proceeds,” he told Times Radio.
“I am hopeful but, as with everything to do with this virus, you can’t say for certain.
“There are a lot of issues that we need to work around but I am working with international partners, both governments and organisations, to try to make it happen. We can’t provide cast iron guarantees on it.”
