Spain coach Luis Enrique picks out Ferran Torres quality that Man City need

Spain coach Luis Enrique praised Ferran Torres after the Manchester City signing made his debut for the national team.

In a competitive match with Germany, 20-year-old Torres gave an accomplished performance and worked some space in the final minute to cross into the box for what would prove to be the equalising goal.

Sergio Ramos praised the hunger and desire shown by the debutants as Spain look to bring their next generation through, while Enrique was more interested in talking about Torres's ability with the ball at his feet. Describing him as one of the best crossers of a ball in La Liga, the Spain manager praised the former Valencia player's knack for finding teammates.

"Ferran Torres has been at a very high level, on both wings," he said.

"He was a constant danger to the German defence. He is one of the players whose crosses are the best in La Liga. More than crosses, I think he is making (incisive) passes."

As well as his positional versatility, Pep Guardiola will hope that he will be able to call on Torres's crossing ability to unlock defences. City have increasingly used the tactic of peppering the opposition box when they have been faced with deep-lying defences, although their lack of height in attack does not make things straightforward.

Brought in as a replacement for Leroy Sane, Torres can expect to compete with Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez for a place on the right side of City's attack.
