Spain beat Great Britain 2-1 to advance to Davis Cup final in Madrid

Rafael Nadal & Marc Lopez beat Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski 7-6 (7-3) 8-10 in the deciding doubles match to give Spain a 2-1 win over Britain in the Davis Cup semi-final amid a frenetic atmosphere in Madrid.

Kyle Edmund had put Great Britain into the lead with victory over Feliciano Lopez, but Rafael Nadal then easily beat Dan Evans and Spain won the doubles to ensure they will face Canada in the final on Wednesday.

Andy Murray was left out again by captain Leon Smith, with Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans getting the nod.

And Edmund continued his superb form in Madrid to give Great Britain a 1-0 lead, beating Lopez, who came in as a late replacement for Pablo Carreno Busta after he was ruled out with a thigh injury.

But Spain levelled the scores when Nadal thrashed Evans 6-4 6-0 to make it 1-1 and set up a doubles decider.
