SpaceX Crew Dragon and International Space Station spotted over the UK

The SpaceX Crew Dragon and International Space Station (ISS) were both spotted over the UK this evening.

The ISS passed over the UK at around 22:11 BST, just minutes before the SpaceX Crew Dragon passed over at 22:17 BST.

The SpaceX Crew Dragon launched from Florida at 20:22 BST this evening, and is currently on a 19-hour journey to the ISS.

Several excited viewers took to Twitter to share their photos of the Crew Dragon and ISS.

One user wrote: “Amazing, spotted it over the rooftops!” while another added: “Seen it!!”

Ahead of this evening's launch, British astronaut Tim Peake urged Brits to look to the skies to see the Dragon and ISS.

He tweeted: "You can see the @Space_Station pass over the UK tonight, 22:10 BST.

"Look west, low on the horizon & it will cross to the south east, passing beneath the moon. If @SpaceX launches, it will follow about 5 mins later.

"The sky will be too light to see SpX on 1st pass after launch."

If you missed tonight's sighting, thankfully there will be several other chances to see the ISS in the coming weeks.

Spot The Station explained: "Watch the International Space Station pass overhead from several thousand worldwide locations. It is the third brightest object in the sky and easy to spot if you know when to look up.

"Visible to the naked eye, it looks like a fast-moving plane only much higher and traveling thousands of miles an hour faster!"
