The ISS (International Space Station) is back on view at a convenient time in Britain’s evening sky for a series of eastbound passes that continues until 27 October. Our predictions for London and Manchester give the BST times of its visibility from when it rises above an elevation of 10° until it disappears into eclipse in the Earth’s shadow in the directions flagged by asterisks.
The current six-person crew of the ISS consists of three Russian cosmonauts, including the only woman on board, two US astronauts and one from Germany. The next planned mission to the station is by an unmanned Cygnus cargo freighter, Orb-3, atop an Antares rocket on the 22nd, to be followed by yet another Russian Progress supply vessel on the 29th.
