Discovery, the oldest of Nasa's retired shuttle fleet, left its home at Kennedy Space Center for the final time on Wednesday, riding to its new home, the Smithsonian Institution's hangar outside Washington, on top a modified jumbo jet.
The plane and jet made a farewell flight over Cape Canaveral before swooping over the nation's capital.
