Spa of the Week: The Landmark London

With its spectacular art deco lobby, complete with eight-storey glass atrium roof, entering The Landmark London set in the heart of Marylebone, will take you back in time.

If you can't quite afford to stay the night - room rates begin at £294 - hitting the spa for a sumptuous treatment is the next best thing.

The spa at The Landmark has a 15m chlorine-free indoor pool, a Jacuzzi and large sanarium which is heated slightly lower than a regular sauna. The fitness studio features Technogym machines, as well as free weights, and the male and female changing rooms both have steam rooms perfect for a post-gym sweat session.

The decor of the four treatment rooms is simple, with plenty of neutral browns and beiges, but the vibe at the pool area is serene and the staff are super friendly.

Upon arrival you'll first be invited to change into the fluffy dressing gowns and slippers stored in the changing room lockers before returning to a seated area to fill out a form, where there's a selection of fresh fruit and orange and cucumber-infused waters on offer.

The treatment:

The therapists at The Landmark London's spa use products from Spanish skincare brand Germaine de Capuccin. I have come for "The Landmark London Tea Dreams" signature treatment, an anti-oxidising full body massage (60 mins) and facial therapy (20 mins). There's a choice between green tea oil for anti-ageing benefits or black tea oil for improved suppleness - I opted for the former.

The treatment begins with a relaxing but relatively firm full body massage, followed by an "organic white tea facial," which aims to nourish the skin and leave you with a radiant glow. I particularly enjoy the menthol face scrub which leaves my skin tingly and refreshed. It ends with a satisfyingly firm head massage, before my therapist takes a warm towel underneath my neck from above and gently raises my head from side to side, getting rid of any remaining tension.

For an extra £30 you can upgrade the treatment to include an invigorating "Jeju" exfoliating scrub, which helps to protect against free radicals and deeply moisturises the skin using hyaluronic acid.

I head to the relaxation room to chill out after my facial, this area is exclusively for guests who are having treatments and can be accessed through a door with a code. There you'll find more fresh fruit and a large pot of soothing camomile tea.

Verdict:

The Landmark London has a great spa menu with a good selection of unique therapies using dreamy products which are performed by friendly and attentive therapists.

The star of the show at this hotel is the lobby, so once you've de-stressed at the spa, I'd make the most of your visit and head upstairs for lunch. We visited on a Sunday and liked the look of the Champagne brunch, a lavish buffet featuring free-flowing fizz which is served 12.30-3pm (£110 per person).

You’ll leave feeling

Pampered, revived and soothed.
