PRAYAGRAJ: Muslim’s role in the elections have been narrowed down to just voters and they are always kept at bay from the participation in the power and now the time has come when the representatives of the community should reach the legislative assembly and not confine to a vote giver, opines chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Asaduddin Owaisi.
He was addressing a public meeting at Rasulpur locality of the old city area on Tuesday in support of AIMIM’s candidate from Allahabad South assembly seat Mohd Farhan and Allahabad North seat Mohammad Ali.
Owaisi said that only if the leader of their own community reaches the assembly, their demands and interest will be highlighted and protected.
Hitting hard on Samajwadi Party (SP), he said, “SP has always used Muslims for their votes and has never worked for their rights and development.”
He said that muslims have voted in large numbers for SP and BSP during last many polls, including in 2019, but BJP has won continuously. Muslims have no importance in Samajwaadi Party and Akhilesh himself has cut the tickets of 45 percent of muslim candidates in these polls. In democracy, the issues can only be solved through your own leaders and AIMIM candidates if sent to assembly will speak for rights of Muslims and other weaker sections of society,” he said.
SP is trying to take Muslim votes by scaring them of Yogi and Modi, but Muslims should not repeat the same mistakes committed in 2014, 2017 and 2019 election, he said.
