Sox Game Day: Lead Royals 3-1

April 09--KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers hit a three-run homer off Royals left-hander Danny Duffy to give the Sox a 3-1 lead in the second inning.

The run started when Adam LaRoche hit a two-out double after Duffy threw a pitch behind him.

The Royals took a 1-0 lead against the Sox in the first inning Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium.

Kendrys Morales hit an RBI single against Sox left-hander Jose Quintana to drive in Mike Moustakas, who had doubled.

Sox manager Robin Ventura tested out a new lineup against Royals left-hander Danny Duffy.

Designated hitter Adam LaRoche moved down in the lineup, batting sixth rather than fourth. Gordon Beckham started at third base in place of Conor Gillaspie, and switch-hitter Carlos Sanchez started at second base instead of rookie Micah Johnson.

Center fielder Adam Eaton led off, followed by left fielder Melky Cabrera, first baseman Jose Abreu, right fielder Avisail Garcia, shortstop Alexei Ramirez, LaRoche, Beckham, catcher Tyler Flowers and Sanchez.

Quintana made his first start of the season and will try to help the Sox bounce back from a 10-1 opening-day loss to the Royals. Quintana entered the game 0-6 with a 4.38 ERA over 12 career starts against the Royals.
