Southwold Christmas Day swim: Hundreds take the plunge for annual charity event

Hundreds of swimmers, decked in festive fancy dress costumes, took the plunge into the North Sea for an annual Christmas Day swim in Suffolk.

As a crowd of onlookers gathered, the swimmers ran took a dip in the chilly waters despite temperatures of around 5C.

The annual charity swim was organised by the Rotary club of Southwold and District to raise money for The Southwold RNLI and The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Blood Bikes.

In the last six years, the event has raised a total of £17,081.
