Nov. 26--A Gage Park man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after Cook County investigators traced child pornography videos to his computer online, raided his home and found computers and DVDs with the same videos, according to prosecutors and court records.
Manuel Reyes-Garcia, 47, pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony child pornography charges before Cook County Circuit Judge Arthur Hill, according to court records.
The investigation into Reyes-Garcia's actions began in August, after investigators with the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force downloaded child porn videos from his computer via the web, according to prosecutors. Investigators then raided Reyes-Garcia's home, in the 5700 block of South California Avenue, on Sept. 3, and confiscated 27 DVDs and six computers, according to a release from the Cook County state's attorney's office.
On the computers, investigators found the same videos they had downloaded, and some of the DVDs containing videos of sadistic sexual abuse, prosecutors said.
Once he is released from prison, Reyes-Garcia will be under state supervision for three years, and be required to register as a sex offender, according to prosecutors and court records.
