Read more  Caixin’s coverage of the new coronavirus

What’s New: Chongqing has been taking emergency measures since a South Korean engineer who had been working in the city tested positive for Covid-19 upon his return home, according to China’s national broadcaster.

The engineer, surnamed Han, who worked at the SK Hynix Inc.’s semiconductor unit in Chongqing, took a company car Thursday to the neighboring city of Chengdu before catching a flight home, according to a local government statement.

Han tested positive Saturday after landing at the international airport in the eastern coastal city of Incheon in South Korea. He was preliminarily diagnosed as an asymptomatic patient, and subsequently reported his positive result to the company, according to the local government.

What's more: After receiving the report of the positive result, the municipal government in Chongqing took emergency measures to contain any potential spread of the disease.

The company where the engineer worked has been closed and sealed off, and all staff have been subject to isolation measures and given nucleic acid tests. A local hotel where the engineer stayed has also been closed.
