Southwest Airlines plane forced to take evasive action to avoid mid-air collision over Nashville

A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to take evasive action to avoid crashing into another Southwest plane at Nashville International Airport.

According to the airline, Southwest Flight 507 was executing a precautionary go-round due to windy conditions while attempting to land in Tennessee this weekend.

It was forced to take evasive action to avoid Southwest Flight 1152 which was taking off from BNA on its way to Knoxville. Both flights eventually completed their journeys safely.

“We are engaged with the FAA as part of the investigation. Southwest appreciates the professionalism of its Pilots and Flight Crews in responding to the event. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of our Customers and Employees,” the airline said in a statement.
