CHICAGO _ ASouthwest Airlines flight headed from Chicago to Newark, N.J., on Wednesday morning was diverted to Cleveland for maintenance on a window that appears to have cracked.
The crew made the decision to divert for a "maintenance review" of a layer of the aircraft's window pane, Southwest said Wednesday.
The flight landed in Cleveland about two hours after leaving Chicago's Midway Airport, according to FlightAware.
Photos posted on Twitter show cracks in the airplane's window. Southwest said the aircraft landed uneventfully and maintained pressurization because each window has multiple layers.
The aircraft has been taken out of service, and employees in Cleveland are working on getting the 76 passengers on a new flight to Newark, Southwest said.
