Southside cafe transforms shop front into a mini Christmas fair

Glasgow's Christmas markets might be cancelled this year, but this Govanhill shop has pulled out all the stops to bring some festive spirit to the southside.

The Transylvania Shop and Cafe on Victoria Road launched its own mini Christmas fair, selling sweet treats and decorations from wooden stalls under a canopy of lights and a decked-out tree.

Inspired by the story of bloodthirsty vampire Dracula, the coffee shop has given their Christmas decor a spooky twist with Jack Skellington lights.

Owners even brought along a pair of cute Shetland ponies today, as captured by Govanhill Go. They don't do things by hooves there, do they?

They wrote on a Facebook post: "Good morning Glasgow... we are ready for you. Our Transylvania Xmas Fair is open.

"Our little house will replicate Transylvania Sibiu Xmas market especially for you. We want to bring the Christmas joy in your homes wherever you are.. Glasgow makes Christmas shine again in 2020."

The shop sells Romanian and Hungarian fresh produce, cakes and bread and serves hot drinks to take away.

You can head along to the Transylvania Cafe's Christmas fair between 10am and 6pm, Saturday and Sunday.
